FAKE PICTURES, SOFTWARE TO PLAY WITH IMAGES
I really do not care of any heuristic sharpness in the photographic language. What I mean is that media change, as well as the use of media after the contemporary culture trends. We have no firm tradition to blindly comply. Any representation issue can be valid if it can be accepted by people. That is to say what counts is the final result: useful or useless, agreeable or revolting, baroque or minimalistic. In any case is the author’s attempt to meet others’ feelings and emotions. This last century stated an almost total expression freedom in all arts: some die, some other flourish. It is not an author’s concern.
As a professional I can do – or try to do – anything. When I work for myself I feel absolutely free to follow the mood of the moment within a very complex evaluation range and keep my results settled in a box, for future reference.
THE PHOTOGRAPHER’S POINT OF VIEW
IN THE DARKROOM Once upon a time there was a mysterious place where photographs are born
We used to say: if you want to learn photography you must spend most of your time in the darkroom! I have to fully confirm it. Before you fix a subject on the film, you must consider the framing to clean up, to isolate and enhance the focus of your shot. Symmetry or some other equilibrium, then lights and shadows, harmonic colors, inifinite greys (never pure blacks and whites), or the total contrary. Enlarger and chemical tricks helped, a long time experience was required. Nowadays all shots are reviewed on the monitor in a way once was only science fiction. Each of my photographs, even the digital ones pass through some software, Lighthouse, Photoshop or so. In this new digital darkroom you’ll learn even better how to make photographs.
